Architect and Educator for Sustainability in Building Design and Construction
Loren has been in the construction industry for over 40 years, with 35 years as a Licensed Architect. He has performed in the capacity of Designer, Project Manager, Project Architect, Construction Administrator, and Construction Manager through all phases of design and construction of new and remodeled facilities. Projects include a wide variety of Federal/Military, Public, and Private Sector work.
Mr. Aiton is NCARB Certified and a California Certified Access Specialist (CASp). As CASp he is considered an expert in the field of construction-related accessibility and qualified to inspect constructed facilities and issue certificates of inspection by the California Division of State Architect (DSA).
As a LEED Accredited Professional, Loren has completed 19 LEED Certified projects. A LEED AP since 2004, he was a founding member of the US Green Building Council, Central California Chapter, and served for 10 years on the Board of Directors and as past president. Loren is a frequent speaker and educator on sustainability in buildings and remains active with organizations focused on tracking and reducing embodied carbon in materials, zero net energy, and zero net carbon in design.
Although semi-retired Loren continues to perform part time as a Senior Architect with TETER, Inc., Architects and Engineers, in Fresno, California. Having served for the past 5 years as a part time lecturer at California State University Fresno in the Construction Management and Architectural Studies Programs, teaching classes in architectural design, construction management, building codes, and sustainability in construction. As of fall of 2023 he has joined the Architectural Studies program as a full-time faculty member.
